Lonna Anderson

Role: Area Education Agency

Dr. Lonna Anderson is the Director of Instructional Services for Great Prairie Area Education Agency. She earned her doctorate in educational leadership from Western Illinois University, as well as an educational specialist degree and master’s degree in administration from the University of Texas at Austin, and a bachelor’s degree in secondary education from the University of Iowa. She has a combined 28 years of experience as an administrator and teacher. Prior to working at Great Prairie AEA, she served five years as assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction in the Dunlap School District in Illinois. Previously in 2015, Anderson served on an IRRC committee providing input on summer school criteria.

On the advisory council, Anderson will be representing the AEA instructional services directors and chiefs. She is able to share provide input about AEA services around literacy and school improvements, and make connections with the work of the IRRC so AEAs and educators in Iowa can best serve students and families. Anderson feels fortunate to be able to advise the IRRC, which she says provides critical research and resources for Iowa’s educators, students and families.
