Katie Greving

Role: Community Partner and Parent

Katie Greving is the president of Decoding Dyslexia Iowa, a grassroots organization whose volunteers work to raise dyslexia awareness and advocate for effective reading instruction in Iowa schools. Katie’s interest in reading began when her son was diagnosed with dyslexia. In 2013, she and other Iowa parents started Decoding Dyslexia Iowa to provide information, resources and support to Iowa parents and educators and to work for statewide change.

Katie earned a master’s degree in educational psychology from the University of Nebraska and is a licensed mental health counselor.  She also works part-time for the Iowa Child Advocacy Board in the Court Appointed Special Advocate program.  She previously worked for the Drake University Counseling Center.

Katie lives in Clarion and has two children. She loves old books, cats, and traveling with her family. She says she is honored to be on the IRRC Advisory Council, which she believes provides crucial information and services for Iowa professionals, schools, and parents.
