Kate Connealy

Kate is the principal of Sacred Heart School, part of Bishop Heelan Catholic Schools, in Sioux City. Previously, she was a teacher, instructing students in various elementary school grades for more than a decade.

Kate earned her Master of Arts degrees in educational leadership from Concordia University, and curriculum and instruction from Doane University, both in Nebraska. She also earned endorsements in English as a second language from Wayne State University and early childhood from Doane University. She earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education (reading specialization) from the University of Nebraska Omaha.

Teaching reading has always been Kate’s passion, and she aims to contribute to the advisory council the perspective of private school students’ needs. She is excited to part of the tradition of creating great literacy-focused professional development opportunities for educators to enhance the learning of Iowa’s youth.
