Amy Williamson

Amy J. Williamson is the deputy director of the Iowa Department of Education. She oversees the birth through Grade 12 education system in the Division of Learning and Results.

Prior to serving in her current position, Amy was the Department of Education’s bureau chief for school improvement. She has also worked in evaluation, data analysis, special and general education compliance and accreditation, and as an adjunct faculty member in higher education.

Amy earned her bachelor’s degree in political science from Iowa State University and her Master of Arts degree in political science with an emphasis in social science research from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.
