The Iowa Reading Research Center is partnering with the Metropolitan Omaha Education Consortium to provide guidance and technical assistance to help participating metropolitan Omaha school districts improve early literacy proficiency.

Implementation planning began in the spring of 2019. During the fall of 2019, school district educators completed the eLearning Effective Literacy Instruction module at their own pace. The Iowa Reading Research Center provided additional in-person professional learning to school district literacy leaders, who then supported educators as they implemented what they learned from eLearning. The same format was followed during the spring of 2020 when educators also completed the Small-Group, Skills-Based Instruction module. Implementation continues during the 2020–2021 school year.
